A CHINCHILLA.
A HUMAN.
UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES.
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS...
When I started getting mail requesting the return of this "komik" to Electric Apocalypse, I was good and floored. After all, most of the strips were done in 2001, which is progressively falling into the past. I'm not even traveling with the same circus as I was in 2001. All the same, folks think these goofy things are funny--still funny, I should say. So why not?
How did Scrunch and Juana begin? Honestly, I'll be damned if I know. "Scrunch" was actually my chinchilla Clio, who was my first chinchilla and was a best friend. I had the pictures of the two of us, and I started thinking about what I could do with them. At this point, let me state that I've been heavily influenced by Bill Watterson and "Calvin and Hobbes" as well as Gary Larson's "The Far Side", so the possibility of a fun interplay between a human and a non-human was very appealing. Hence, I scratched out the first strip, "Intelligentia and Stuff", and Scrunch and Juana was born.
I think the strips start to make more sense as the series goes on--if they can be said to ever really make sense at all. I'd also like to thank you guys who persuaded me to unleash this creation on an unsuspecting world again. It's nice to know someone noticed me.
