"There's much amusing debate about where I came from and what people can claim me for their own. I exist for all people, all over the world.
"Mainly I am a guide on the great journey of life. sometimes things go our way, and sometimes the sailing is stormy Whichever way life is throwing you, whenever you feel beaten up upon the rocks by endless waves, speak to me. I cannot fix your life, but I can help you through the life you have.
"I also come to you with a bounty for humanity. I take the charge to give of myself and my power. I take the charge to teach. I stand for Compassion, Justice, Honor, Loyalty, Family, Honesty, Trust, and Faith.
May your heart beat with strength and courage!"

Nehalennia, or the Lady of the Ways, came to me in a manner I couldn't deny. I very quickly knew that she sought to guide me in the journeys of my own life. This rite is my personal rite of dedication to Nehalennia and was created with her in mind. However, I don't see why this rite couldn't be adapted for other deities.
Ritual Items
Three blue candles
Anointing oil, made with fresh herbs from my own garden and steeped in olive oil
Statue of Nehalennia--mine is a small figure in obsidian which to me symbolized the goddess so well.
Chalice, with a favorite beverage for a libation
"The sentiment I have within is no secret to you, my lady. You see in my heart my desire to serve you as best I may. You are witness to my pledge."
Anoint your pulse points with the oil.
"Nehalennia, my lady
I vow to serve you
I vow to receive you
I vow to meet your challenges
I vow to always grow and learn
I vow to live my life well, in respect of you"
Raise the chalice and drink the libation.
"From this moment forwards I am Elen of the Crossroads, Priestess of Nehalennia, and her servant on earth.
"May I be the bearer of a light I might pass on to others. May I be the bearer of wisdom to share with others. May I be the bearer of comfort to those in need."
Raise arms as if embracing the sky.
"Hail to Nehalennia, Lady of the Ways!"
